1

Setting the Visual Direction

I chose Light Orange (#FDDFC4) as the theme colour to match the spring season. Using our existing brand style guide as a base, I set unified rules for fonts, text sizing, layer structure, and word counts — giving every designer clear guardrails before they started.

Character & Cover Design

Designed original characters for the "Animal Land" story — a dog and cat in two outline variants each (black for contrast, orange matching fur tones), with sad and happy expressions. The cover combined cherry blossoms, light blue sky, and green grass.

For the cover design, spring elements like cherry blossoms were added to create a spring feel.

The background features a light blue sky with green grass, matching one of the stories in the magazine.

The Carrot, new character of a new training session, it inspires health and exercise, capturing the essence of spring's vibrancy

Created characters for the story

I designed two versions each of a dog and a cat for the story, using Adobe Illustrator, with black outlines for contrast and orange outlines matching their fur colors.

I also created variations, including one with a sad expression, to emphasize their unique personalities in 'Animal Land'

3

Illustration & World-Building

Designed the Animal Land castle in Illustrator — gems, orange accents, green grass, and flags to build a fairy-tale world. The story title incorporated star elements for a whimsical feel.

Title design

The title design for 'Animal Land' includes star elements, giving it a magical and whimsical feel that fits the fairy tale theme.

Another design - Castle

I also designed the castle for
'Animal Land' in Adobe Illustrator, incorporating various gems and an orange color scheme.

I surrounded it with lush green grass and topped it with flags to enhance its majestic look.

Game Design

Game design - Find difference game

I developed an ocean-themed spot-the-difference game with two scenes featuring subtle color and object variations to challenge reader.

Additionally, I illustrated a distinctive plastic bag element.

Overall, the game enhances interactivity, encourages observation skills, and boosts visual cognition.

4

Team Coordination & Final Adjustments

Each designer uploaded their sections to the shared drive by deadline. I reviewed every spread against the style guide — adjusting fonts, sizing, and layer consistency to ensure the 36 pages read as one publication.
